Jason Creek Is Perth's Best Trance DJ
Dec 14th
We are thrilled to inform that one of our recent guests on Radio KUL, Jason Creek, has just been crowned Best Trance DJ at the 2009 Perth Dance Music Awards (PDMAs). The PDMAs is an annual event that recognises and awards major accomplishments in the EDM industry in Western Australia.
Riding on the wave on this success, Creek is now going full force to build his career as a prolific DJ and producer and continues to share the stage with some of the world’s biggest names in the scene. Radio KUL Extra catches up with him to find out how much things have changed since his last appearance on the show.

Jason Creek
Hi Jason, it’s been some time since we had you on Radio KUL. Firstly we’d like to congratulate you on being voted the Best Trance DJ at the recent Perth Dance Music Awards.
Thanks! It is a huge achievement and I am still over the moon with the results!
How have things changed since that crowning?
Nothing drastic as of yet, but I think it will lead to bigger and better things for 2010!
We hear you’ve been putting your first production together. Any clues on what to expect?
I am working on a lot of tracks at the moment while I am on break from my studies and they are slowly getting there! I guess they all possess a progressive vibe to them, and of course something that is great to dance too!
Tell us about the upcoming Asian tour. Will Malaysia be included?
The tour is still (slowly) being organised, but there is interest from several countries including Malaysia. We are sorting out logistics and final details in the coming weeks, so hopefully Radio KUL listeners can catch me sometime early next year!

How do you find time between your studies and DJing?
It is becoming increasingly difficult as I am starting to play more and more, however at the end of the day as much as I love music and DJing my studies are my priority, so time is always found for both.
Which DJ or producer would you say inspires you and drives your musical ambitions?
That is a difficult one, but I guess Markus Schulz would defiantly be up there! His role as a DJ, Producer, and manager of one of my favorite labels (Coldharbour Recordings) really inspires me to be the best I can at what I do.
What elements do you think are important for a live performance?
Interaction! Being an avid event goer as well as DJ means I have seen enough performances to know what the crowd likes; and while being technical is important, tune selection and crowd interaction are THE most important factors! I hate seeing a dull DJ standing there not getting into it, its as if he doesn’t love the music he is playing!
What are your upcoming plans looking like?
Busy! I have a large number of gigs coming up here in Perth over the next 2 months, including playing along side Aly & Fila, Richard Durand, Sied Van Riel, Eddie Halliwell, Menno De Jong and many, many more!
What’s currently playing on your iPod?
The latest in trance & progressive! A lot of Anjunadeep / Anjunabeats stuff lately.
What has been the record of the 2009 for you?
Another difficult question! I play a wide range of gigs here in Perth & Mandurah, from house to techno, to trance and progressive, but the most played track would have to be Reflekt – Need To Feel Loved (Adam K And Soha Vocal Mix). The track was released (well produced, I don’t think it was officially released) at the start of the year and it sounds great in a wide variety of my sets!
Looking forward to 2010, what do you hope to achieve?
My plans for 2010 include continuing to establish my name in the Australian scene, and hopefully release one or two productions!
And lastly, any message to your supporters reading this!
Thank you for all your support over 2009 it has been a great year, and I hope to have your support in 2010!
