A New Dimension For Chloe Langley
Mar 22nd
You may recognise Chloe Langley’s voice from her tracks with Dennis Sheperd and Cold Blue “Not Too Late” and “Freefalling.” She was also featured on “Young and Proud” with DJ Shah and on tracks with Benny Tones and Reminder. But this New Zealander has already been involved in music for over a decade with her bands Little Vices and Faster Pussycat Kill Kill. Despite crossing genres, Chloe carries something common across all her projects – her genuine and truthful lyrics and her ability to perform on the guitar allows her to truly shine as an upcoming and versatile talent to watch.
Chloe will be working with us on this week’s Radio KUL. Here she is for this week’s Extra interview.

Chloe Langley
Hi Chloe! What a pleasure to be finally speaking with you. How are things and where are you answering this from?
Hi Guys! I’m answering this from Golden Bay New Zealand at the moment though i have been based in our capitol city Wellington.
Tell us about Little Vices and Faster Pussycat Kill Kill. What differentiates both of your projects?
They are my two bands. Little Vices is creatively my baby as I write all the music, play guitar and sing in it. It’s quite radio friendly pop rock and it’s cute songs about doing bad things… pretty but with grit.
I also play drums and sing in Faster Pussycat Kill Kill. This band started out as a fun 2 piece with my flatmate and just ended up going really, really well. So we enlisted a bass/rhodes player and it went from a side project to main project. Over this summer we did a big New Zealand tour to promote the release of our mini album Get A Little Closer. Faster Pussycat Kill Kill is dirty down town 60s inspired rock N roll, very different from my trance work!
You’ve been in music for the most part of your life, having grown up and studying it in New Zealand and performing both there and around Australia for several years. How did you get involved with dance music and work together with DJ Shah?
DJ Shah actually approached me on Myspace and asked me if I would like to work with him. How he came across my page I don’t know… the wonders of the Internet and luck I guess! It was quite unexpected and I was really excited by the prospect of working with overseas producers and seeing where it would take me. I love having diversity in the range of genres I can work in musically.
“Freefalling” was one of 2009’s biggest tracks. It’s a compilation and radio favourite, and we simply love it so much. When we first played it, we had so much great feedback from our listeners. Flashback to when you first recorded the vocals for that, did you guys ever expect that song to go so far?
To be honest I had no idea it was that big! I feel quite out of the loop being all the way over here, which is why I can’t wait to get out there and do some live performances with the producers I have worked with. But it’s been amazing getting all this positive feedback and I’m so glad the track is doing well.
You’ve worked together twice with Dennis Sheperd and Cold Blue. Are you all close friends now?
Well we haven’t met in person yet but I’m sure we will some time soon and really enjoy working together so keep your ear out for more collaborations. They are both great guys and we drop each other lines to see how things are going.

Given the opportunity, who would you like to collaborate with? Any artistes or producers that captures your attention?
Oh man, so many talented people I would love to get the chance to work with. How to choose names! I would love to work with people like Groove Armada, London Elektricity, Massive Attack, David Guetta just to name a few. I’d like to try a few different genres of dance music too. I know there are many amazing producers out there that I have yet to discover and that I would love to work with, so it’s great when people drop me a line through my Myspace.
Is there anybody special in your life right now? And do you have any pets?
Haha hmmm yes someone special and I don’t have any pets at the moment because I travel too much, but I can’t wait to get a cat or two.
So what will you be working on for the rest of 2010? Clue us in on any upcoming releases, tours, etc.
I am currently working on a new track for DJ Shah and a producer called Michael Angelo. Also will be working with Dennis Sheperd again this year and have a few others in the mix too ;) I will be touring New Zealand and Australia with my bands and doing a solo album. Busy busy but music makes me happy.
How does it feel to be hosting Radio KUL this weekend!
Flash and lucky!
And lastly, any message to fans around the world.
Thanks for all your support and please drop me a line…I love getting your emails. Keep an ear out for me and my new tracks and I hope to meet you on the dance floor sometime!
