On Saturday 6th December 2008, history was made as thousands of music lovers around the globe tuned in to MALAYSIA UNITE TONIGHT : A WORLDWIDE BROADCAST on NEradio International.

6 months in the making, the online party featured a 12 hour broadcast from 6 Malaysian DJs in the mix non stop, from 4PM to 4AM the next morning. The event was aimed at promoting Malaysian trance DJs on a global platform on a never before attempted effort.

The show kicked off on time at 4PM with a warmup set from local rising star Danny Oh, the man behind the MY Love Trance weekly mixes. Danny got the listeners moving with his pumping selection of proggy trance with new tunes from Markus Schulz and JOC. At this point, listeners started doubling and the word started to spread.

At 6PM, Malaysian trance legend DJ Love took over to much anticipation and delivered a powerful set comprising productions and remixes from Andy Moor, Sied Van Riel, Adam Sheridan and Leon Bolier. A DJ and producer for over a decade, DJ Love showed the world how it’s done here in Malaysia.

Then it was Celtique on a 4 hour marathon. 2008 has been wonderful for this vocalist and DJ, and she delivered favourites from Gareth Emery, Alex MORPH, Double Agents, and of course, a bunch of her own signature Celtique mashups, much to the delight of her local and international supporters.

By 12AM Malaysian time, listenership was peaking and trance lovers from nations around the globe were craving for more. It was just about evening in Europe and clubbers were getting ready to go out. Fono came on and delivered his new South Island Balaeric Mix, which included tracks from Myon and Shane 54, Wippenberg, Andy Duguid, and Mike Koglin.

At this point, things just seemed like it couldn’t get better. Final on the line up, Radio KUL show runners Simon Lee and Alvin took centerstage for the last blowout from 2AM onwards, delivering a 2 hour powerpacked primetime mix of all the trance must haves, like Oceanlab, Cosmic Gate, Kyau & Albert, Above & Beyond, and Sundriver, ending Malaysia Unite Tonight with a classic from Gabriel & Dresden.

All in all, ratings for the 12 hour broadcast were sky high, registering high traffic in the thousands from Malaysia, Sweden, USA, France, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and many more. It was great to see the international dance community coming together to support our Malaysian DJs. NEradio said this exceeded even their expectations and hope for more of such events to follow. Those who tuned in from the start to end were provided a rave experience in their own living rooms, and reports and congratulatory messages flowed in from listeners everywhere who gathered to tune into this once in a lifetime broadcast. It was a fantastic experience for everyone. One wonders how euphoric it would be if this was a live event.

The success of Malaysia Unite Tonight is shared between the local DJ community, NEradio, and music lovers who tuned in and supported the broadcast.
