Many of us have become so familiar with Jorn van Deynhoven since his remix of RAM’s “RAMsterdam” exploded onto the charts last year and became the trance single of the year for millions of die-hard trance fans. Since then he has earned a reputation for being able to notoriously remix any given track into a dancefloor destroyer – Glenn Morrison, Ronski Speed, Dash Berlin, Majai, and Masoud have all knocked on his studio door to recruit his services. His new single with former KUL guesthost Susana “Never Mine” is taking a crack at the charts now.

This weekend we’ll have Jorn on Radio KUL alongside superstar vocalist Aneym.

This is our exclusive interview with him.

Jorn van Deynhoven

Hi Jorn! Thanks for speaking with us today. Where are you currently and how was the ASOT 450 celebrations?
Hi friends. I am currently in Bloemendaal (NL)to prepare some things in my mum’s house for the summer. Concerning ASOT 450. It was really really massive. I had never been invited as an artist on a party like this before. The Polish crowd was so amazing and full of love and I felt really at home there. I am really grateful to have got the chance to play on ASOT 450 as a DJ, cause I listen to Armin’s show every week and I am more than proud to have been a part of his edition.

Your new remix for Glenn Morrisson’s “Symptoms Of A Stranger” is picking up steam. How did the chance to remix this track come about?
I got this remix request directly from Armada Music. I listened to Glen’s Original mix and was so fascinated of the beautiful voice of Cathy Burton and especially of her lyrics. It’s really a great song and i think i did a good contribution for Glen’s complete release package.

Also a lot of rave reviews for your remix of “Never Cry Again” by Dash Berlin. What was the approach on this take?
Yeah, doing a remix for Dash Berlin’s Never Cry Again was a big pleasure for me, cause the guys around this act are so friendly and open for all, especially for my music taste. I listened to the original mix on their album and was really flashed about this sweet voice. I don’t know until today who sung this, but this voice is really awesome. After I’ve done my remix, Armada asked me again to finish a radio version and 3 weeks later i saw my remix as an official music video version on TV and YouTube. Believe me, i was really speechless and proud.

How has been the response so far to your track with Susana “Never Mine”?
The response to ‘Never mine’ is really amazing. I get emails every day with positive feedback around the globe. I must say, Susana’s new artist album is really a nuke. A wonderful concept album with different high quality music productions. My personal favourite is her track with Omnia & The Blizzard ‘Closer’. It’s on repeat mode here. I am really happy to be a part of her album.

After the much heated success of “RAMsterdam” with RAM last year and having it crowned one of the 2009’s biggest anthems, any possibility of collaborating with RAM again?
Definitely. The crazy thing is that many people think, that I only did the remix for RAMsterdam, but it’s not correct. I also produced the Original Mix with him and we will also team up for his new single too. The follow-up is almost finished and needs some fine tuning now, but I also work on own remixes and originals, that’s why this takes a lot of time. But the day will come to entertain the world with RAM’s new single.

Will you be touring this year and where can we catch you live? Any plans to come to Asia?
For sure, in the next time I have some dates in Europe. Belfast, Prague, Zurich and Barcelona are on my schedule. The first requests from Asia are also coming in and I think one day I will also play for some Asian trance lovers. It’s all a part of the local promoter to get in contact with me.

With Thomas Bronzwaer, Andain, Chapter XJ, Masoud, Ronski Speed, and many more enlisting you to remix their music, any plans to venture into a full length album?
Beside my remix work, I will focus specially in 2010 on my own releases. So I finished my new single in collaboration with Temple One (Joe Garrett) and another one with the Italian trance hero Manuel Le Saux. Both singles are very different from each other, but 100% uplifting. My single with Susana is also released and I hope Armada will release a single version of her album. We will see. For autumn two ‘female’ collaborations are planned. With Armada Music I found a very good partner to work on future releases and maybe one day we will release an album together. Wait and see.

Which of your productions or remixes do you hold most dearly to heart and why?
The Joshua Cunningham & Jorn van Deynhoven Remix for ATB’s Desperate Religion is definitely in my heart. Cause this remix is produced absolutely timelessly. This remix was done in early 2007 and we have 2010 now and you can listen to it over and over again and you think this song was produced only last week. I’ve loved André’s work since years and i am very happy and proud of having an official remix release on his CD ‘Feel Alive’.

Any more new releases and remixes coming up in the near future? Are there any artistes you would like to work with at the moment?
Yes, I answered some questions before. My own single with Temple One is in the pipeline now and of course the new track with Manuel Le Saux called Nardo. We will see, if Armada will release a full release of ‘Never Mine’. Remixes for Glenn Morrison, Sindre Eide, Pulstate&Juventa and Thomas Bronzwaer are currently in the slots and for the future I have planned some nice female single collaborations. You can see, the schedule is packed. To your questions about any other artists I would say, that I am interested in working with Daniel Kandi one day. I’ve always liked his work and I think we would have a lot of fun in the studio. I know he likes Heineken and Grolsch.

And lastly, any message to your fans reading this!
I am very grateful to be able to do this job. I see the reactions on different channels day by day. I have to thank for all your support. That shows me that I am on the right way. I hope to perform in your local area one day and I swear we will have a great party then. Thanks for all. Keep trance alive.
