Leon Bolier Talks About Phantasma
Aug 30th
If you’re one of the many dance music fans excited about Leon Bolier’s new album, Phantasma, then we have quite a treat for you. He will be guestmixing Radio KUL this Friday. The first track from this Top 100 DJ from Netherlands together with singer Kathy Fisher, “By Your Side” has already been hammered on global radio stations and dance floors and is a favourite among a list of elite supporters. The double CD is just about to be released, so here is Leon Bolier for this exclusive interview.

Leon Bolier
Leon, it’s good to be speaking with you. How has the response been to “By Your Side?”
It has been amazing, you know, how much I love that song myself, you never know what the crowd response will be! It’s more of a emotional trip than a bigroom banger so I really was happy with the very positive DJ feedback as well!
Kathy Fisher has guesthosted our show before. Why the decision to work with her on “By Your Side?” How did you guys meet?
I was looking for a good vocalist since I finished the dub version of “By Your Side” already, and at the same time I was talking to the Vast Vision guys – and then I thought of Fisher who already did a collab with them, got the email address I needed and just emailed – from there on the track was finished amazingly fast.
Your new double CD, Phantasma, is out at the end of August. Tell us about this new album.
Phantasma once again is a double CD album (just like Pictures two years ago), and that’s because I just like to produce music, besides, a two CD album offers the buyers some more value for money I think. The CDs cover a pretty wide range of (melodic) dance music, ranging from deep progressive house to full on trance. I am really excited about how it turned out to be!
What are some of your favourite tracks on the album and why?
Hard question to answer – and I guess most artists that are asked the same question will answer like me – every track on the album is special in a certain way. If I have to pick some tracks I’d say: “I Close My Eyes” since that track goes back to my first releases that have been put out a couple of years back, like “Poseidon” and “Back In The Days.” Besides, like said earlier, I am really happy with how “By Your Side” turned out. Having said that, if you ask me the same question tomorrow, I will give you different track names.
What are your plans to promote Phatasma?
You can see it the other way around, Phantasma should be an album that promotes me as an artist. Of course I will promote it as much as I can, directly to my fans on my own social network sites as well as people taking care of PR and making sure all major trance/dance sites feature the release. But, the music should speak for it self! Along with the album release I will start touring with the CD as well of course.
Tell us about some of your noteworthy releases on your label Streamlined.
Streamlined Recordings was launched a couple of months back with a track I produced with Sied van Riel. It was great to have a track with Sied as a first release on this label, since it’s always fun to hang out with him and we became friends over the years. Recently I signed and released Daniel Kandi’s “Symphonica,” which got massive support and feedback and still is topping the charts. Afterwards my track with Fisher hit the stores!
And do you have any new remixes on the horizon?
When I was finishing the album I turned down all remix requests, but at the moment I am working on a remix for Solarstone’s Solarswarm Recordings and I will take on more remixes in the coming weeks.
You have a new webisodes series now called Leon Bolier TV.
True, basically that’s just about me touring the world, and showing you a bit of the inside stuff while doing so. I think people really appreciate some sort of an inside look instead of just images of me performing on big stages – though of course I include those images as well.
Will you perhaps be dropping by Asia anytime soon?
Yes I will, I will be touring India and Indonesia very soon – we are looking into other options at the moment to go along, so maybe I can pay Malaysia, Singapore and some more countries a visit!
And lastly, any message to your fans around the world reading this!
Thanks for the support over the years, thanks for being at the parties I play at and I hope to see you again somewhere around the globe very soon!
Phantasma is out on 31st August 2010 on Spinnin Records.

Kuala Lumpur Goes Clubbing with Bobina
Aug 3rd
Dmitry Almazov aka Bobina is the Russian DJ/producer behind tracks such as “Lazy World,” “Lighthouse,” “Invisible Touch,” “Time & Tide” and the famous Russia Goes Clubbing radio show and compilation. The 2010 (and 4th) edition of RGC has just been released featuring music from Ali Wilson, DNS Project, Sander van Doorn, Dash Berlin, Poshout, and a new single from Russia’s #1 DJ himself.
This top 100 global DJ will be firing up the decks this weekend here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, so we have him for this exclusive interview.

Bobina
Bobina, it’s great to be talking to you. Where are you currently?
At the moment I’m at home in Moscow. I just returned from Global Gathering and I still have that great positive energy!
How did that go?
I played 2 sets there. Peak-time and morning sets – it was really amazing! One of the best shows in St. Petersburg so far. Great energy and really open minded crowd!
Russia Goes Clubbing 2010 the mix compilation is now out on Open Gate. How did you pick the tunes for this release?
Every week I get a lot of promos for my radio show Russia Goes Clubbing (which airs weekly on the DFM music station here in Russia). So I just picked up the tunes that I like at the moment.
How long did you take to pick the tracks?
I think it was around 2 to 3 days.
And there’s some new material from you too, a track with Sabrina Altan called “Angel Of the North.” How did this track come about and who have you commissioned for the remixes?
At the moment I am working on a new artiste album. “Angel of the North” is the first single from the album. Sabrina is a young vocalist and her manager sent me her vocals, so I made a tune with her.
Who are some of your favourite producers / singers at the moment?
It’s hard to say about singers – there are really a lot. But for trance producers I have always been a fan of Ferry Corsten.
Tell us more about the dance scene in Russia.
It’s really growing! Trance music is getting bigger and bigger – that’s great. Hard to say about other styles.
What can fans expect from the show here in Zouk Club, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!
It’s my Malaysian debut, so hope to see u all there. I will play the usual Bobina set – somewhere between progressive and trance. Really excited. Will also test new tunes from my album which nobody has heard yet!
And lastly any message to your fans worldwide!
Guys – love the music! That’s the most important thing.
